This training course is a co-operation between Van Walt Ltd, a specialist supplier of materials for soil and groundwater monitoring, Eijkelkamp Training and Consultancy (ETC), a specialist in the provision of training courses in a similar field and Bioclear, Europe's leading consultancy specialising in bioremediation, natural attenuation and ecological risk assessment. Bioclear's experience in biological processes, process engineering and microbiology has expanded the company's areas of expertise to include bio-energy and detection, monitoring and control of biological processes in general.
The Environmental Soil, Groundwater Research and Remediation course is aimed at anyone who is involved in environmental field work and field work project management.
The Training Course consists of 12 modules presented over 2.5 days:
Module 1 - Introduction in environmental soil and groundwater research
Module 2 - Sampling of soil and sediment for volatiles and non-volatiles
Module 3 - Working with multimeters and measuring of acidity (pH), conductivity (EC), redox and dissolved oxygen (DO)
Module 4 - Installation of monitoring wells
Module 5 - Sampling of soil moisture and groundwater for volatiles and non-volatiles
Module 6 - Risk assessment, CLEA and other software models
Module 7 - Introduction of soil and groundwater remediation
Module 8 - Theory biological processes and degradation pathways
Module 9 - Determination of biological potential
Module 10 - Natural attenuation as remediation approach
Module 11 - Background and experiences with aerobic remediation techniques
Module 12 - Background and experiences with anaerobic remediation techniques
Costs: £970.00 plus VAT. This includes all meals and hotel for 2 nights

Entry: Maximum 11 participants per course. A Science subject to A level standard is an advantage.
All participants receive a certificate on completion of the course.
