Water Chestnuts - Issue 2

Welcome to the second edition of Water Chestnuts.

If you are reading this - thank you. We have created Water Chestnuts for you. It's aim is to keep you informed with all that's new at Van Walt and to introduce you to the team - we hope you'll like being able to put faces to names or voices at the end of a phone line.

2008 is well underway and the team at Van Walt sincerely hope we will be working together to achieve another successful year - not just for us but for you, our valued customers and suppliers.

Sincerely
Vincent van Walt

It's not all spreadsheets and sales targets for Van Walt - its 'temps du parti à Paris!'

Christmas seems a distant memory to most but the team at Van Walt won't forget their Festive outing in a hurry - a weekend trip to Paris!

"Last year was a record year for Van Walt," reflects Vincent. "The whole team worked really hard, everyone going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we had the right products for our customers, at the right price and we delivered them on time, every time."

Have you met Yvonne?

Many of you, who have been customers for a number of years, will know Yvonne. Yvonne Coonan, Sales Manager has been part of the Van Walt story since November 1991. Working alongside Vincent, Yvonne has been instrumental in developing Van Walt into the business it is today.

Date for your diary

Don't forget to put the 5th & 6th November 2008 in your diary for WWEM, the number one event for Water/Wastewater and Environmental Monitoring professionals to attend.

Can we call you...?

In the last newsletter we introduced you to Sian - our new administration assistant. In the next few months Sian will be working with Yvonne on our Groundwater Monitoring customer list. She will be calling all those customers who have received a price list from us but who have never placed an order - to find out why.

Dubai and back... in a week!

It's a long way to go for training but it was worth it! That was the opinion of Vincent van Walt who recently flew out to Dubai to undertake some training for Adam Crowe and Andy Parks of Al Futtaim Bodycote - specialists in materials testing and groundwater investigations and one of the leading companies in Dubai dealing with groundwater monitoring and testing.

Liverpool - Capital of Culture and more...

Van Walt, as a supplier of field equipment, is delighted to support the Department of Geography at the University of Liverpool who are this year's hosts of the Quaternary Research Association Postgraduate Symposium from 19th to 22nd August 2008. This conference is attended by approximately 50 postgraduate PhD/MSc. delegates and will address a variety of subject areas, including climate change (both past and future), our increasingly unstable ice caps and changes in vegetation and its effects on biodiversity - to name but a few.

Quick start guides - exactly what it 'says on the tin'!

If you rent equipment from us you'll be familiar with our Quick Start Guides. Recently we have updated them to help give you 'out of the box' performance for all our rental products.

Calling all environmentalists

We have recently completed a very successful campaign targeted at universities and local government departments which included sending a copy of our new brochure which introduces our range of equipment, including soil sampling ring kits, percussion drilling sets, penetrologgers and groundwater sampling pumps, cells and meters plus we offered a free gift to everyone who responded a 1GB Twister Drive Memory Stick with our price list on it.
