Van Walt's Quality Management Commitment
Our view on Accreditation
As a business we have a very strict quality control management structure in place which in our view not only matches but, in many areas, exceeds the quality management which is achieved from a more conventional accreditation scheme like ISO 9001. We have certainly looked at ISO type accreditation for several years but after much research we have decided a more 'hands-on' approach to our customers' individual requirements is more appropriate in our area of business.
Van Walt's own very strict quality management system has the following main components:
Staff Training
All staff receives essential job related training. This will include product training, professional and personal development training and training with respect to health and safety issues. Product Training can be in house but more usually at the suppliers' premises. Professional development courses are more usually from third party training experts.
Quality Control
All major suppliers are inspected at their premises at least once per year and in some cases, more often. Their production methods and quality control implementation are checked. Contamination sensitive materials are analysed and determined contaminant free and hallmarked.
All goods are thoroughly checked prior to despatch and rental products are cleaned, calibrated and tested after each use. Inspection, maintenance and calibration manuals are kept and this data is available for scrutiny by the customer, if required.
Each member of staff is mirrored so there can be two checks on quality related issues. There is follow through on pending orders and despatched orders so that delivery issues can be identified before they become a problem to the customer.
Quality Manuals
Full quality manuals are currently being written and will be completed and available for scrutiny by the end of 2008.
Environmental Policy
Van Walt aims to be environmentally aware by recycling where possible. This includes re-use of packaging, correct disposal of toxic products like batteries and printer toners and using up to date thermostats and excellent thermal insulation to minimise energy use.

Health and Safety
Van Walt takes health and safety extremely seriously not just for its own staff but also by making sure there is adequate packaging, issue of safety data sheets where necessary, provision of clear warnings on heavy items and the issue of a whole set of top quality ppe for staff.
